First picture was something I made whilst bored waiting for a lesson to start. Its kind of a mixture of some of the different people who were in class that day and just molded into one character (still not sure whether it is a guy with long hair or a girl).

The other two sketches are from a life drawing class.ScottEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06736219470095664687noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4554451259328084497.post-55367642116410367462010-09-27T20:49:00.000+01:002010-09-27T20:49:22.034+01:001st Year of College

This is part of a final piece for a project I did in my first year of a 2 year course, I decided to write and illustrate a book about the Eden Project after a college visit to cornwall. My book was about a woman who encountered a deadly flower while on a day trip to the Eden Project. After sniffing the plant she falls into a world inside the flower that is unfamiliar and dangerous, she encounters gun weilding men, man-eating plants, life altering discoveries and hostile natives (I think I covered everyting).

That was about 3 and half years ago and as you can tell back then i liked to think big, and not just in terms of the story idea but also the actual size of the book I ended up making (almost 1 and a half feet tall hehe!). I was also pretty bad at time management. In the end my story idea was too ambitious for the deadline (4 days) and the book itself was too big to bind, but that didn't stop me. When I ran out of time I simply wrote 'to be continued' on the last page and I must admit I thought the book was the best thing I had ever done in the history of all my artwork...

I like to think I have grown up a bit since then. I think its good to look back on your work no matter how cringey your ideas were. And to be honest I think I still am a bit proud of the book I made, as it was a first for me and something I have learnt a lot from.
